university program

projectABLE’s University initiative aims to educate university students about the disability and community care sector and the many career paths within it.

projectABLE is an engaging 1-hour lunch event open to all students, encouraging them to explore career opportunities in the disability and community care sector.

Students will have the opportunity to meet representatives from various organisations from the sector, as well as hear from inspiring guest speakers.  The speakers will include:

  • people with disability giving honest accounts of living with a disability and their support needs, as well as how those needs are met by professionals in the sector,
  • industry professionals with inside knowledge of the growing demand for a wide variety of skilled professionals to join the sector, and
  • our own academic speakers to offer leadership and advice regarding opportunities for post graduate studies that relate to the needs of the sector.

The event aims to motivate and inspire – an exciting call to action, inviting students to consider a career path where they can truly make a difference.

From 2019 over $6 billion per year will be invested to enable more than 400,000 people with a disability living across Australia to take greater control of their circumstances and lead a dignified, decent and productive life.

By 2019 the workforce needed for the NDIS  when it is fully operational is estimated to be around 150,000  (more than double the current workforce of 70,000).
